Huelva, located between the mouths of the rivers Tinto and Odic, was close to being devastated by the earthquake that destroyed Lisbon in 1755. What is left of its historic quarter is arranged around the Monjas square and the church of Concepción, which was rebuilt after the earthquake. In the town of Moguer we can visit the house of the poet Juan Ramón Jiménez, who wrote Platero and I, with many mementoes from his stay in Huelva. Around this side of the estuary, we can see strawberry fields that supply European markets between February and May.
